Consistent content updates have helped The Crew 2 become one of the most downloaded racing games on PlayStation. Having released back in 2018, The Crew 2 is starting to look dated. Thankfully, Ubisoft’s open-world racer is getting an overdue makeover in an upcoming free next-gen update.

Love it or loathe it, Ubisoft does right by its games. The French publisher almost always offers unprecedented support for its software, and The Crew 2 is no exception. Now nearing its fifth (!!!) anniversary, the open world racer is getting an entire year of additional support, which will span three unique seasons of content, including both free and premium content.
Ubisoft and Ivory tower announced the news via a video on YouTube that the game will receive 60fps support on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. After releasing 2 seasons, 53 vehicles, 32 live Summits, and many new events over the course of its lifetime, Ubisoft has said that the first installments of its Year 5 content will go live on March 16.
As well as a higher frame rate, The Crew 2's next-gen update will improve the visuals on all platforms. These will include updated skies and lighting effects. A comparison video shows how a warm sunset affects the atmosphere with the update. No word yet on 4K or HDR support yet, though.
Incredibly, the improvements don’t end there. The team is also working on updates to the title’s skybox, to make for more dramatic sunsets and moody weather effects. And, of course, it’ll continue to tune the handling to make the gameplay as strong as it possibly can be. With a real lack of arcade racers on PlayStation these days, at least The Crew 2 exists to somewhat plug the gap.
The Crew 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
